Staff Training & Workforce

Our Workforce and Training Standards

Our staff team is recruited, trained, and supervised to deliver safe, consistent, and person-centred support. We recognise that service quality depends on workforce competence, values, and accountability. Recruitment and development processes are structured to ensure staff are suitable, skilled, and supported in their roles.

Safe Recruitment

All staff are recruited through a safer recruitment process that includes:

  • Enhanced background checks

  • Identity and right-to-work verification

  • Employment history review

  • Values-based interviews

  • Reference checks

  • Role suitability assessment

No staff member begins unsupervised work until vetting is complete.

Induction and Mandatory Training

All new staff complete a structured induction programme before delivering support independently. Mandatory training is refreshed on a scheduled cycle.

Core training includes:

  • Safeguarding adults

  • Duty of care

  • Health and safety

  • Medication awareness

  • Moving and handling

  • Infection control

  • Equality and diversity

  • Mental capacity and consent

  • Incident reporting

  • Risk management

Role-Specific and Specialist Training

Where required, staff receive additional training aligned to the needs of the people they support, such as:

  • Mental health awareness

  • Positive behaviour support

  • Brain injury support approaches

  • Communication adaptations

  • Sensory impairment awareness

Supervision and Performance Oversight

Staff receive regular supervision, competency observation, and annual appraisal. Supervision includes practice review, safeguarding discussion, incident learning, and development planning. Performance concerns are addressed promptly through structured management processes.
